Michael Kaeshammer plays piano: jazz, boogie woogie, blues. Its wonderful, the kind of music you can put on, sit back, and just let pour over you. Kaeshammer tours Western Canada fairly regularly, less often in the East. Catch him if you can!
Kaeshammer recently appeared at Toronto"s Beaches International Jazz Festival, and this article appeared at the time in the Globe and Mail.
His albums aren't available through normal distribution channels. You can order through his web site (but be warned: the order page isn't secure), or by phone or fax. (There are also some RealAudio streaming samples for each album.) Your best bet is to pick up an album at one of his concerts. However, when he was here last year they only had his first album, Blue Keys, left by the time I got to the front of the line! Great album though.
Shirley Eikhard has been composing and performing since she was a young girl. She has wonderfully eclectic musical tastes, lately focusing on jazz.
Ive been working (sporadically) on some Shirley Eikhard web pages. She has her own site, but its not large.
It's become difficult to catch her in concert (at least partly due to her allergy to smoke), and few of her albums are still available. For a list of albums that are still available (some of them seem to come and go) check this limited discography.
