Additional Software Inc. was founded as Alta Vista Software in 1989.
The original company provided consulting in database design and implementation,
as well as custom software programming.
In 1997 the company made the decision to apply its experience in user
interface design and familiarity with database query tools to produce commercially
available “shrink wrapped” software. To reflect its new focus
on plug-in components, the company was re-christened Additional Software.
Additional Software has produced a series of report extensions for BI/Query (formerly GQL),
Hummingbird’s ad hoc query tool. The first product of this effort,
Spreadsheet Builder, was released in 1998.
The company now focuses on product development support. Additional
Software Inc. provides user interface design, prototyping, and contract product development
services. On contract for others, the company has produced products that ship to
countries worldwide and in half a dozen languages.
In 2014, the company opened a branch office in Iqaluit, Nunavut
providing custom Macintosh OS X software development.
